Suraksha

Every project in Abalashrama has a unique name. The name itself speaks about the project. First and basic project of Abalashram is `Suraksha’ means `safety’. The word Suraksha has a different meaning as an independent project. Here it’s not only shelter, usually provided for the needy woman, it’s a holistic approach which is provided to heal her emotional wounds. Suraksha provides not only provides the basic need of food, shelter to her, but also tries to rebuild her life. Professional councillors talk to her to understand her personal problems, issues which are disturbing her. This process continues till she comes out of the shell and starts thinking and behaving positively. Asharam elders talk to her on and off, to decide about her future. This depends on her Educational and Social background, if she wants to continue her education, she is allowed to do the same. If She is not interested in academics, Multi Skill Development centre gives her wide range of choices. Even cooking is also a skill…. She can learn that by helping the cooks’ in the Ashrama kitchen! If she has any legal issues, Ashram’s expert lawyers will help her to sort it out. These women will not only find a safe roof on their head, they will find here family of sisters and empathetic elders who always help her to be economically independent and be a part of main stream of society, as a positive contributor.
