Introduction to Religious and Cultural Roots: In Abalashrama, every festival is celebrated in a traditional manner to help residents understand the significance of each celebration, the reasons behind its observance, and its cultural highlights.
The Ashrama premises are cleaned and decorated by the residents the day before the festival. The decorations include Rangoli and Torana, which add to the festive atmosphere.
On the day of the festival, all the girls take a bath, dress in their finest clothes, and participate in a pooja. The elders join them in the celebration, creating a sense of unity and community.
During the celebrations, Bajan singing takes place, and residents are given explanations about the cultural and religious significance of the festival being celebrated.
Traditional dishes are cooked for the day's meals, adding more color and flavor to the celebration, and providing a sense of connection to the customs.
Visiting temples in the evening is another important ritual that forms part of the festival celebration, reinforcing the spiritual aspect of the observance.
During Navaratri / Dasara, Abalashrama’s Doll Display is very popular in the surrounding areas, drawing attention from the local community.
During Deepavali, the entire Ashrama is lit up with traditional diyas, creating a beautiful and festive environment, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness.
